James started his career as one of the original staff members at the Nick Bollettieri tennis academy and satellite camps around the world, a position that lasted three decades. He was also involved in Bollettieri corporate events worldwide. During the time period from 1980-1988, he was the director of IMG NBTA camps (Bollettieri summer camps) overseeing all operations.

In addition, from 1986 – 1989 he was one of two Bollettieri traveling team coaches on the ATP tour, which included Jim Courier (former #1 in the world and a Hall of Fame player), David Wheaton, Mark Knowles, Chris, Garner and Martin Blackman, all top 100 ATP players. As Director of IMG NBTA Camps, James is only second to his father in terms of experience in running Bollettieri Style camps and academies.
From 2002 – 2014, James was the principal and head tennis director to GSI Bollettieri at Flamingo Park in South Beach and North Shore Park in Miami Beach. The combined total of courts was thirty and he had a staff of twenty five. As tennis director, James conducted and oversaw all clinics, tennis programs and recreational camps. His clientele is international, as well as regional and local. The operations gross total was $800K a year.
James, who is also an established professional photographer, combined his knowledge of sport and vision to go on and photograph some of the most important legends of tennis, Borg, Connors, McEnroe, Sampras and Agassi, and presently…Federer and Nadal. He shot covers and spreads for various magazines and networks such as the Tennis Channel and ESPN. James has also sold his photographs in galleries and tennis clubs. James’ photographs have been known to have more of an artistic flare, not the typical tennis shot. His photographs have draped the walls at the Sony Ericsson player lounge, NIKE’s corporate suites to the US Open in NY. Tennis clubs around the country have his work in their collections, including North Miami Beach Tennis Center.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in Photography from the University of Miami.
